The Renewable Energy Experimental Lab is equipped with real-time simulators, rapid control-prototyping platforms, power-electronic converters, machine test benches and field micro-hydro installations that support end-to-end experimental research — from control design to hardware validation.

OPAL-RT OP4510 Real-Time Simulator
RCP/HIL FPGA-based real-time digital simulator for hardware-in-the-loop testing of grid-forming inverters, virtual synchronous generators and advanced control algorithms prior to hardware deployment.

dSPACE MicroLabBox
High-channel-count rapid control-prototyping platform with analog/digital I/O, resolver and CAN interfaces for real-time implementation and validation of power-electronic control schemes.

PV Emulator–Inverter System
Programmable photovoltaic array emulator with a grid-tied inverter cabinet for studying MPPT, irradiance-dependent behaviour and PV grid-integration under controlled laboratory conditions.

Three-Phase Inverter
Enclosed three-phase IGBT inverter with gate-driver stage, AC–DC sensor outputs and status monitoring — the switching core for grid-integration and inverter-control experiments.

Multilevel Inverter Prototype
Laboratory multilevel inverter prototype with a 3300 µF/200 V DC-link capacitor bank and heat-sinked switching stages, developed for high-gain, reduced-device converter research.

Inverter Development & Testing
Stage-wise inverter development bench with multi-leg switching board, magnetics and load resistors, instrumented with a digital storage oscilloscope for waveform and power-quality analysis.

Parallel SEIG Test Bench (2.2 kW & 5.5 kW)
Coupled induction-machine sets rated 2.2 kW and 5.5 kW with control desk, load banks and instrumentation for experimental study of parallel self-excited induction generator operation.

Micro-Hydro Turbine Testing Set
Field micro-hydro test rig with a pump-as-turbine coupled through a belt drive to an asynchronous generator, replicating edge-of-grid rural generation for off-grid experiments.

5 kW Micro-Hydro Generation Set
Installed 5 kW micro-hydro generation unit with penstock, turbine housing and generator on a fabricated base — the deployment platform for the lab's rural electrification research.

5 kW Electronic Load Controller
Three-phase 5 kW electronic load controller cabinet with generation metering and dump-load management for frequency regulation of SEIG-based micro-hydro power plants.

Voltage & Current Sensor Boards
Multi-channel Hall-effect voltage and current sensor cards with integrated power supply and toroidal-core inductor banks for accurate measurement and filtering in converter experiments.

PCB Rework & Circuit Station
YIHUA hot-air rework and soldering station with digital microscope, LCR/multimeter and precision tools for in-house fabrication and repair of power-electronic circuit boards.
